Melanie Gandyra
Biography

Melanie Gandyra is a freelance illustrator and artist from Hamburg and Innsbruck. She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in illustration at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg. The main focus of her work is editorial, infographic, and informative illustration. From time to time she switches from paper to wall and has already been able to realize murals for Viva con Agua, interactive city maps for the Hamburg Schauspielhaus, or the window display of the Patagonia Store in Innsbruck. Since 2021 she is lecturing Illustration at HAW Hamburg.

Her drawings usually start on paper. The colored pencil forms the basis of colors, shapes, and structures. These analog fragments are digitized, composed, and finally find their final fusion. Expressive color worlds abduct into symmetrical, often surreal superstructures that metaphorically communicate and inform.
