Isabel Blumenthal's illustrations are as colourful, lighthearted and wondrous as she is herself.  However, those taking a closer look at her work will find a well balanced blend of melancholy and severity hidden beneath her strong, colorful crayon strokes.

The truth, like with most things,  lies somewhere in the middle.
